Finally a chance to post some "words of wisdom" which is the namesake of my blog.
For my first words of wisdom I wanted the "words" to come from an individual who is more than qualified to give advice and has an impact on the world. I chose the current Dalai Lama. He recently tweeted:
I could not agree with him more. I believe that people get so caught up on finding happiness they fail to realize that happiness is created . There are many things that people can do in order to find their own happiness but the best things that can be done are among the ones the Dalai Lama listed. It's all about ones mind state, if you want to be happy then just be, don't think about it too much. The same goes for personal outlook if you're viewing everything in a negative light happiness will never be apparent to you, you have to see the positives in every situation and get used to focusing on the light and not the darkness.
Like the Dalai Lama goes on to say motivation is also an important factor. If you're not motivated to create your own happiness no one else will be. Caring about others and being decent and kind towards other humans will lead to self- fulfillment and ultimate happiness.
I definitely try to heed the Dalai Lama's advice in creating my own personal happiness and look to him for words of wisdom.
Does the Dalai Lama tweet a lot? It runs against my whole notion of him being the "man on the mountain." I wonder how other spiritual leaders would have used the technology we have. I think Jesus' parables would have sounded odd if he had to get them out in 150 characters. Or maybe they would have been succinct and awesome, I don't know.
ReplyDeleteThe Dalai Lama has a Twitter account??
